Anti-dumping investigations carried out by the Competition Agency of Georgia following the implementation of the Anti-dumping Law of Georgia periodically conduct local industry sector monitoring for various product bases. It should be noted that in accordance with the legislation, before applying a special anti-dumping tariff in cases of imported product dumping, a study must be conducted. This study, conducted by the National Competition Agency of Georgia as a learning organ, aims to ensure complex processes and involves identifying three main elements: solely dumping imports, local industry sector damage, and analyzing the causal relationship between dumping imports and damage to the industry sector. From local industry announcements, the Agency initiates the evaluation of various bases accurately focusing on damage-related elements. The selection of these bases is made based on several priorities, particularly significant local production capacity, import presence in the same sector, and the existence of anti-dumping investigation practices worldwide (as initiated by other countries) in the corresponding sector of the industry, particularly concerning imports and damage to the industry within Georgia.
